Dustin and I met at a mutual friend's Christmas party in 2015. Despite us being from Algona and Bode, we surprisingly hadn't met before that night. Since I had heard he was working in the corporate world, I figured he could help me land a summer internship in the HR field. I chatted him up and asked him to review my resume. We connected on LinkedIn and in real life. Dustin could still keep up with the college kids when he would visit me in Ames, and I was introduced to some pretty fun times at "The UP" - the house in Des Moines where Dustin was living at the time with a few of his friends. After I accepted an internship in Scottsdale, we each went our separate ways. Thankfully we found our way back to each other when I moved to Des Moines after graduating from ISU. We started officially dating on July 31, 2017, and moved in together in 2019. Then - OK, I will say it - FINALLY, on September 29th, 2023, we got engaged! Dustin had planned a date night to go on a sunset walk at one of our favorite spots, Gray's Lake, and then head to nearby Confluence Brewing for drinks afterwards. During our walk around the lake, Dustin pulled off the best surprise (which if you know me is very hard to do) and asked me to marry him - it was the easiest yes of my life! He then surprised me again by having our closest friends and family waiting to celebrate with us at Confluence. Such an amazing day that we'll both never forget!
