We are so excited to get to celebrate our special day surrounded by the people we love most! With love, Paige & Stephen
Paige and Stephen met in the Music Department at New Mexico State University, where Stephen, a year ahead of Paige, caught her attention with a voice that could rival any Disney prince. Her voice lingered in his mind long after choir rehearsals ended, and with a little help from their mutual best friend and wing-woman, Arin, their duet began to soar. March 20, 2021, marked the opening act of what would soon become a lifelong journey as they went on their first date to no greater restaurant than Raising Cane’s. They still laugh about it to this day (though Stephen insists that it be mentioned that he actually cooked a beautiful dinner for Paige on their "real" first date). Whichever one counted, it was clear from the start that something special had begun. Just a few months later, they embarked on their first big journey together, traveling to Paige’s childhood stomping grounds in Washington State. Surrounded by evergreens and the soft mist of the Pacific, something in the air felt fated. Paige had a feeling she might just be looking at her future husband. Spoiler: she was right (as always)! On June 20, 2024, exactly two years before their wedding, Stephen orchestrated a proposal worthy of an aria. The setting: Los Poblanos, a lavender farm and historic inn in Albuquerque. After a perfect dinner, the two wandered through the gardens. On what also happened to be the summer solstice and Strawberry Moon, the desert seemed to hold its breath. As Stephen knelt to propose, a soft drizzle began to fall, as if the skies of Washington and the New Mexico desert had conspired to meet in perfect harmony. A few weeks earlier, sensing something monumental approaching, Paige had asked the universe, and her grandparents watching over her from above, for a sign. Not from doubt, but for the quiet reassurance that her heart’s choice was meant to be. She had wished for a yellow butterfly. Yet in answer, she received so much more. Just a few days later, an unmistakable, almost "random" white dove glided across her path. She was ecstatic, and considered this to be her sign, though not the one she asked for. To Paige’s astonishment, a giant yellow monarch butterfly danced into view right after Stephen proposed. Paige stopped in her tracks at the sight of the beautiful and deeply meaningful creature, then glanced up to notice the breathtaking rainbow that had unfurled right above them, brilliant and impossible, as if the universe and Heaven itself had paused to watch...or, in Paige's eyes (that were full of happy tears), had winked in approval. Since then, their love has only grown stronger. Now living in Chicago, they have already started to build a life full of laughter, music, and adventure. Stephen is mastering the art of opera, while Paige continues to explore and pursue her creative passions. Naturally, both still make time for Disney-prince-and-princess duets in their living room (much to the delight of their neighbors and dog, Phoebe). And yes, since their first date, they’ve sampled far fancier fare in the big city. As they prepare to marry in Washington on June 20, 2026, they’re ready to start the next act of their love story; one still filled with continuous laughter, music, and adventure, as well as the occasional sing-off! Their greatest duet is just beginning! -Written by Phoebe (the dog)
