After 8 years of orbiting each other in Chicago and frequenting the same bars, we met the old fashion way; a dating app. After a quick couple of messages, we decided to meet for a drink at a bar in Chicago, Cabra. Cabra led to Lazy Bird Lazy Bird led to Emporium And so it began...
After a few months of dating, we planned our first trip together to Traverse City for a long weekend. It was there that Alan asked Taylor to be his girlfriend while on the swings at a park AND where Alan decided one day he would one day propose at an old theater after an evening show at State Theater.
As we ate and drank our way around the city, food became a staple in our relationship. Alan would always order the apps /mains and Taylor would surprise him with the dessert choice. One night after meeting up with some friends at Burwood Tap, we stopped at Baci Pizzeria on our way home. Alan placed the biggest order you've ever seen for 2 people. They loaded up his arms with the order that went all the way up to his chin. He waddled over to Taylor with the biggest smile on his face about the late night snack they were about to devour when Taylor blurted out "I love you" for the first time.
After a year together in Chicago, we decided to make the move to metro Detroit, MI, where Alan grew up. We loaded up the car with our little family, including our cat Sophie and great dane Jude and headed to our new home!
ACT V: Under the ruse of a double date with one of Alan's groomsmen, we headed to Northville (Alan's hometown) last December. As we walked through the downtown that looked straight out of a Christmas movie, Alan got down on one knee while pointing up at the Marquis sign that read "Taylor will you marry me?" She said yes, obviously.
We will exchange our vows with all of you, our closest family and friends and then ring in the new year as Mr & Mrs. And live happily ever after.
