This is the recommended airport to fly into. It's about a 1.5 hour drive to/from Telluride. United and Southwest Airlines fly into MTJ, typically with a layover in Denver.

Durango is about a 2 hour drive to/from Telluride. United and American Airlines fly into DRO.

Transportation Info
Renting a car is not necessary to get to and around town (unless you plan to take a day trip). The Telluride Express offers service to nearby airports (including Montrose and Durango). Telluride and Mountain Village are very walkable towns and the free gondola allows easy travel between the two until midnight everyday. The towns also operate a free Dial-A-Ride service everyday until 2:30 am.
