Many great stories begin with the serendipitous meeting of girl and boy who share a spark of immediate and intense love. However, Daniel and Cali's origin story begins a little differently... with a missed opportunity. In 2019, Daniel played the upright bass, and Cali sang the 'upright' microphone in a show called Million Dollar Quartet. Initially, the stars had aligned for them to perform the show together in the small Florida town of Gainesville. But the stars had different plans: Daniel declined the gig and, unbeknownst to him, missed his chance to share the stage with his forever love… for now. Fast forward to Cali's big move to NYC. Brady, a rocking pianist and beloved friend of both Daniel and Cali, played Cupid by correcting the trajectory and ensuring boy met girl. Brady brought them together for a hangout in Fort Tryon Park, sharing live music and a big picnic blanket. Conversations led to discussions of their roots in Florida (coincidentally both having lived in Coral Springs during some of their childhood years), their involvement in that little show called Million Dollar Quartet, and their shared passion for music and the arts. The hang did not result in immediate romantic pursuit, yet it left an inherent desire to see each other again (despite already having their first argument about iPhones vs Android). Now playing the intermediary, Brady was constantly responding to texts like "Is Cali coming?" and "See if Daniel can join!" forcing the three into a cliché NYC sitcom trio. Their favorite haunt was an Italian restaurant called San Marzano in the East Village, where boy and girl secretly swooned over garlic bread, underscored by Brady's sweet Southern banter. Months of coy, flirtations pass and suddenly, Daniel felt brave. "Want to meet after you finish work for a drink?" Cali had never known a rendezvous with Daniel, absent the complete trio. What if Brady was the necessary glue needed or else their unrealized love would falter? Girl took a chance. At an Irish pub, the two morphed into a duo as 00's throwback RnB music videos filled the pub TV screen behind their fizzing beers. It would be this night that set the stage for the duo's performance of a lifetime.
