We met at the original Steinert's (a Bar in New Albany, Indiana that burned down in 2008), when I was 21 and Jeff was 25. It wasn't love at first sight, I thought Jeff was weird because he was friendly to everyone and I have always been one to keep to myself. However somehow our friend groups merged and we began hanging out frequently and going to a tiny little restaurant called Little Chef after the bars closed. This is where we had our first "date" at 4:30 in the morning after a night out with friends. Fast forward to my 24th birthday when I admitted to Jeff that I possibly had a crush on him. It was about 6 weeks later when suddenly we were more than friends, I'm not sure either of us knows that precise moment but we went from very casual friends to being pretty much inseparable.
First off I would like to say that 6 months into our relationship I jokingly told Jeff that I wasn't going to be one of those girls who was with a guy for 10 year before getting married. (He obviously proved me wrong) We have known we were going to get married one day for pretty much our entire relationship, however we put my education and career before the actual nuptials. So there came a time when I was expecting a proposal any day! My Residency took us out to a small town in Eastern Kentucky called Hazard, which was unlike anything we had ever experienced. If you have ever had the pleasure of going there you will know that there isn't a lot of restaurants or shops to go to. So whenever we came home we made it a point to go to one of Jeff's favorite chain restaurants Outback. I also desperately missed going to Target. I know this sounds a little odd, but when you have lived in a place that only has an Applebee's and a Walmart everything becomes a little more exciting. So we were on a normal visit home and had stopped at Outback per usual and while we were there he asked if I wanted to go to Target which was next door since it was "my favorite place." So here we are after dinner, sitting in our car about to go into Target. Jeff starts talking to me about how we just left his favorite place and we are getting ready to go to my favorite place and we had found the perfect spot since it was between our two favorite places. He then asked me if I wanted to get married. My brain was not following and I started rambling about how he knew I wanted to get married and had always wanted to marry him, then he pulled out the ring and I shut up. The ring was perfect, he was perfect and so was the moment.
