Why Washburn Wisconsin?

Answer

Jake is a merchant mariner and we both love the water, so we wanted our venue to be based around Lake Superior.

Question

How long have you two known each other?

Answer

Jake and Andrea met online while Andrea was in college and Jake was overseas with the Navy Military Sealift Command. They corresponded by email and letters for 7 months before meeting each other in person. 7 years later Jake proposed! We will have been together 9 years when we get married.

I’m flying in, which airport should I use?

Answer

Duluth Minnesota! This international airport is only 1 hour and 30 min from the venue and most hotels in Washburn, Bayfield and Ashland. The second closest would be Minneapolis MN. That is a 4 hour drive to the venue.

What is there? How far away are these towns?

Answer

From Ashland WI, Washburn is about 15 minutes north. Bayfield is about 15 minutes north from Washburn. Ashland is the largest town out of the three with lots of shops and a Walmart if there is something you need. Washburn is a very small and old town with really cool buildings and a small harbor on Lake Superior. Bayfield is the gateway to the Apostle islands and Madeline island where you can take a ferry across and drive around to the old churches and lavender fields. Bayfield has many orchards and little hobby farms with fresh produce, Lake Superior kayaking and beautiful views of Lake Superior that resemble Pictured Rocks MI in many ways.

What do I wear?

Answer

Our wedding will be a very formal event with the wedding party in uniform. We encourage all service men and women to wear their dress uniforms. Guests, are welcome to wear something comfortable yet formal. Please refrain from wearing white or ivory as well as jeans being that this is a wedding.
