We had it all figured out... a big, beautiful wedding by the ocean in Key West, Florida. There were going to be sailboats and shrimp and a trolley and dancing downtown and brunch on a balcony. We spent way too much time crafting our hashtag, #WheatUsInTheKeys, but it was going to be great. COVID had other plans, so we were heartbroken to have to cancel our dream wedding. We did still have a small family ceremony in Upstate NY, and that was beautiful too. We're currently working on plans to celebrate with all of you soon, and we hope you'll join us. xoxo
We met online in May 2017, and our first date was a few days later. We met up in Logan Square around 4pm and liked each other's company so much that we ended up spending almost 8 hours together, going to a comic book store, a couple bars and a taco spot, and to see a movie. I think we both knew pretty much immediately that this was something special.
On a vacation to Key West, we all went out on the boat for sunset as we often do. As the orange sun was sinking into the sea, suddenly the boat slowed and Zach took my hand. He gave a little speech to my family and I, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I threw my arms around him, shouted "YES!" and we were engaged.
