Amber & Zach most likely first met as kids playing tee ball since they grew up a whopping five minutes from each other for almost their entire childhoods. However, it is high school calculus class in 2010 that they both acknowledge as the first time they met. Calculus may have introduced them, but college is where they really got to know each other.
Zach & Amber both went to college at Waynesburg University and it was there that they became great friends. Amber admits that early in their freshman year, she had a crush on Zach, but Zach did not seem to be interested. In fact, all of their friends often joked that Amber and Zach would end up getting married. They were considered the “mom and dad” of the friend group, but swore that they would NEVER end up together. Well…you know what they say about saying “never”.... From 2014 to 2019 Zach and Amber didn’t talk or see each other very often. Zach was moving around a lot and Amber was finishing school and working. When Zach said he was moving out West with very little notice (in true Zach fashion), Amber always knew he would come back. It was that feeling of knowing someone would come back to you that made her start wondering if maybe that feeling back in freshman year of college would go on to become something more. She pushed it away though, thinking that Zach wasn’t interested.
When Zach returned from Wyoming in the summer of 2019, he and Amber reconnected at a local event. They spent hours just walking around the event, talking and catching up on the last five years of their lives. Following that day, they both had more of a feeling that there was something more between them than friendship, but neither one wanted to be the one to act on it since they had been so set in their notion of never getting together. After this day, though, they texted more and Amber could tell Zach was sharing things with her that he wouldn’t have before.
Amber and Zach’s friends were getting married on July 11, 2020, and Amber and Zach were kind of each other’s dates, but kind of not. They had joked back and forth about going with each other, but it was never official. The day of the wedding, Amber woke up SUPER late and made it to the ceremony just in time. She saw Zach and made a beeline to sit with him. After the ceremony, they went to the hotel they were both staying in and checked into their rooms, then hung out together until the reception started. They were seated at the same table and spent most of the reception together as well. Their friends yet again noticed something between them and started bugging Zach about it and if he was going to make a move… …long story short, he eventually did after many hours of talking and hanging out. What they both find funny about their relationship is that they were instantly dating after the night they stayed up talking and flirting in that hotel room. Zach never formally asked Amber out, but they both knew they were a couple. They struggled for a few days to decide if they should put a label on it, and ultimately decided to just go for it, relationship status and all. Their “official” first date was to Parkwood in Greensburg. Amber had always said that she wanted to date someone she was friends with first. She even would’ve gone as far as to say she would’ve wanted to be friends with that person for as long as ten years before dating. If you go back on the timeline of their story, Amber knew Zach almost exactly ten years before they became a couple. “Everything works out the way it’s supposed to” was Amber’s mantra for years leading up to ending up with Zach, and it was true. ❤ It all worked out and it was always you. ❤
