While visiting Maggie's sister Katie in California this past summer, Maggie and Chad decided that visiting Yosemite National Park was a definite must. Little did Maggie know, Chad had something big in store for her. Before leaving for the trip they had researched what would be the best trail to hike while on their day trip at Yosemite. They decided on trail titled "Vernal Falls" because it was labeled as a moderately strenuous trail and it had a waterfall which would have some amazing views. The forecast said it was going to be 101 degrees so both Maggie and Chad had dressed accordingly. Never having been to Yosemite, they did not realize that the temperatures once in the park would be vastly colder. They started the hike that day, both excited and Chad extremely nervous for what was coming once they reached the top of the waterfall. Arriving at the base of the waterfall and the part of the trail label "Mist Trail," Maggie and Chad could tell their trek up the side of the waterfall was upon them. Other hikers were passing them, either dressed in ponchos/raincoats or completely drenched. Apparently the "mist" was more of a "rain" due to the previous winter having a heavy snowfall at Yosemite. Both Maggie and Chad become drenched not even half way up the waterfall. They reached the top, cold and wet, but in complete shock of the beautiful Yosemite National Park. After a couple of pictures, Maggie was OVER IT because she was freezing in her tank top and shorts, and was extremely hungry. Chad says hold on, I want to take a couple more pictures. He pulled a rose out of nowhere, and a fellow hiker nearby offered to take a picture of the couple. Chad got down on one knee and Maggie started sobbing uncontrollably. She of course said yes. A truly unforgettable day and proposal!
