Nick and Emily met on a hot a sunny day in Greenville, NC as the East Carolina Pirates took on UNC Chapel Hill Tar Heels. The Pirates came out victorious and the rest is history! Just kidding, a lot more happened between then and November, 16th 2021 when Nick asked Emily to be his girlfriend. After the night of the football game the two became friends and grew their friendship through many ups and downs. However, the summer of 2020 is when Nick and Emily's friendship really started to grow into what would eventually lead to the two falling in love with each other. They started playing disc golf together and watching Sunday Night Football when Emily would return to Greenville after a week of student teaching. Hanging out with each other became the norm, and they were almost inseparable. The week before Nick and Emily started dating, they traveled to the outer banks of North Carolina to play in an ultimate frisbee tournament. It was there that they both started to realize what they meant to each other. The following week, they went to their favorite restaurant in Greenville called Cubbies; Emily thought he was going to ask her then and there but he got a little nervous. Later that night they went to trivia at Pitt Street Brewing and had an amazing time. Before the night was over and the goodnights were said, Nick asked Emily if she was ready to start a relationship. The answer was obviously yes! Since then the two have been going strong. They graduated from ECU in 2021 and then moved to Morrisville, NC to start their careers. They also adopted a sweet dog named Snow who is the light of their lives.

Nick asked Emily to marry him on May 28th, 2022 at the Cascades outside of Boone, NC. Nick planned a Memorial Day vacation for them and their close friends Zack and Rebeccca. Emily sensed something fishy was going on when Nick stated that he really wanted to go to the Cascades during the trip. He mentioned it nearly 10 times in one day. The day of the proposal, the weather was beautiful and perfect for hiking. The group of four started the trek to the beautiful water where Nick would pop the question. When they got to the spot, Rebecca climbed on the rock wall meant to keep people from falling over in order to get the perfect shot of Nick getting down on a knee. When Nick asked Emily to be his wife she could not hide the excitement and immediately started smiling and crying. Nick did the same. After the engagement, they celebrated by doing one of their favorite things by visiting the local breweries in Boone, NC.
