We were introduced by our now Officiant and Groomsman, Michael and Lino, at a stereotypically chaotic college party. Emily liked James' backwards hat and great dance moves ; James liked Emily's beautiful smile and how she kept an eye on the cops and let the DJ know when to shut off the music. Having met less than a month before Emily was set to leave for a 5-month Study Abroad in Paris, we agreed to keep things casual. As you might guess, that didn't last long. Two day's into Emily's adventure James asked her to make it Facebook official and the rest, as they say, is history.
The day of the proposal, Emily knew something was afoot. After walking around Paris for 10 hours, and managing to garner James a truly epic glasses-tan, James suggested a picnic in front of the Eiffel Tower, and strongly discouraged Emily from wearing anything as informal as jeans. On the way to the park, he practically sprinted and cited not wanting to miss the sunset as his reasoning, despite the fact that the sunset was two hours off and they were 5 blocks away. When they arrived and picked a spot, James insisted that Emily couldn't sit down. Before she knew it, he was down on one knee, which the 100+ people behind them immediately noticed. In the ensuing applause, James actually forgot to pop the question, but that didn't stop Emily from enthusiastically giving him a "yes"!
