Jessica and Joseph’s love story began in July of 2022, when Jessica downloaded Bumble. Her profile had only been up for 12 hours when it came across Joseph’s feed and once he saw it, he knew he had to match with her. So in the most romantic way possible, Joseph paid extra to "super swipe" on Jessica, which instantly notified her that someone wanted her attention. Open to finding love, Jessica was intrigued by Joseph's profile and saw a sweet guy who had a passion for teaching kids. So there in a Costco parking lot, with convincing from her mother, Jessica swiped back on Joseph and the couple were matched. The following week, Jessica and Joseph went on their first date at the Fancy Biscuit in Richmond. It was there that Joseph talked Jessica's ear off. While both can admit the first date didn't go off with a bang, they later agreed to a second date at Hotel Greene where they truly hit their hole in one (pun intended). After weeks of going on dates, Joseph officially asked Jessica to be his girlfriend on August 24, 2022. The “honeymoon phase” however was cut short and their relationship put to the test when one of Joseph’s childhood friends died. Throughout the process Jessica was supportive, loving, patient, and present to be there for Joseph (written in his own words). Joseph knew after this horrible experience, that he had found a partner for life. The two continued to date, growing closer with every curve ball life threw at them. Joseph eased into his new role of being a cat dad to Jackie, their beloved tuxedo cat, and Jessica accepted that decorating for Christmas would have to begin before Thanksgiving (although she still holds on to the belief that it’s an after-Thanksgiving activity). In 2023 on Memorial Day weekend, Joseph asked Jessica's parents for their permission to propose to their daughter. As they celebrated their anniversary at Wintergreen Resort, Joseph went down on one knee and asked Jessica to marry him. The two were engaged on August 26th, 2023.
