In true millennial fashion, we met through an app on our phones. Libby was visiting friends in Newport one weekend and decided to scroll through Bumble with her friends. She matched with a cute kid from Portsmouth who had a cute dog. She messaged Ryan the next day, assuming we would talk for 5 minutes and then never speak again. Instead, Ryan kept messaging, and eventually asked to take Libby on a date. Our first date was in November 2015. It was absolutely love at first sight, and we both knew pretty quickly that this was the real deal.
In September 2018, we went to California for Libby's friend Lauren's wedding. We also spent some time with Ryan's friends Pete and Ashley in Salinas. Pete and Ryan went "golfing" for the day while Libby spent the day walking around Carmel with Ashley and their two kids. At one point, Ashley suggested we walk on the beach. We walked around a curve and Ryan was standing there, in a tuxedo, surrounded by lanterns and rose petals. Clearly, he wasn't golfing. Libby had no idea this was coming and was completely blown away by the most perfect, romantic proposal.
