On a chilly February night in Hoboken, Mike and Michelle met at a bar. Each was looking for someone they only recognized from a handful of pictures and a few witty responses to dating app prompts. Both almost canceled the date, never guessing they’d soon meet the person they'd spend forever with. Initially, Mike was nervous, evident from some of the first words he spoke to her: "I like beer." Michelle was obviously swept off her feet. Things improved, however, as they exchanged sarcastic comments and somehow understood each other's weird humor. They got closer and closer as the night went on. By the end of the night, as they were paying their tab, a stranger tapped Michelle on the shoulder and said, “Sorry, I couldn’t help but tell you—my friend and I watched you two fall in love tonight.” For their second date, they tried bar trivia. They lost the game but stayed until closing, becoming the last patrons to leave, much to the waitstaff’s dismay. That night, they held hands for the first time—and haven’t let go since. A week later, Mike asked Michelle, “You want to do this thing?” She said, "Yes, let's do it." Mike was asking Michelle to be his girlfriend, but they both knew what they really meant: "Let’s do this life together." A few weeks later, under the dim glow of a jukebox on St. Patrick's Day, they said, “I love you” for the first time. By October, they’d moved in together with their dog, Mojo. On their one-year anniversary in February, Mike proposed. Now, they can't wait for the next chapter and to celebrate with family and friends this spring. Since the moment they met, the laughter hasn’t stopped. Mike still loves beer—but now it is a close second to Michelle.
