It's hard to believe that after going to school together for over three years, it took a class trip halfway across the world to bring us together. When we both signed up for our school trip to Italy during our senior year, we had no idea that our lives were about to change forever. Though neither of us remembers exactly the first time that we were introduced, we know that our first conversation took place on the flight. We chatted, laughed, and enjoyed the views from 30,000 feet above. Our 10-day trip took us from Florence to Rome, from Venice to Sorrento - and all along the way, we spent our time together. There was no doubt that we had a connection. We returned home, went on our first date to a pizzeria (Can you say romance?), and a month later became official. ---------------------------------------------------------
Fast forward seven and a half years, when the time (finally) came for him to pop the question. It was a Sunday afternoon and we were on our way to visit Ashley's dad at St. Charles Rehab in Port Jeff. We stopped off at the Harborfront Park to take some photos - not an unusual request for Chris to make. He sent the drone up and suggested flying it over to the rehab nearby to see if we could find Dad's window. As Ashley was nagging him to bring the drone back, Chris handed her his phone and showed her the screen - both families were outside of the rehab holding a huge banner that said "Ashley, will you marry me?". He dropped to one knee. She said, "Of course!" And the rest, as they say, is history!
