How We Met

1.19.2019

It Was Love at First Swipe Wesley started hunting in Montana back in 2012 or 2013 and decided he loved it so much he wanted to make it his permanent home. He packed up everything he owned on a trailer and made the move from Houston to Libby in December of 2018. Virginia was a travel RN from Houston and spent years working throughout northern and southern California, and decided it was time to move on to another state. She didn't know where she wanted to go, so she told her recruiter to send her 3 random places to choose from, Libby being one of them (which she chose so she could check Glacier NP and Banff NP off of her bucket list). She drove from Palm Springs, CA to Libby, MT in December of 2018 to start her new travel assignment at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center. Libby is a small, rural town in the Northwest corner of MT that lies in the Kootenai Valley with the Cabinet Mountain wilderness surrounding it with a population of about 2500 people. If you aren't hunting, cross country skiing, ice fishing, snowmobiling, etc., there isn't much else to do. It was the dead of winter and the ground was covered in deep snow, so needles to say this Texan wasn't going to do outdoorsy things by herself in an unfamiliar location with no cell service. I got very bored after the first week and decided to download an online dating app to meet people and was surprised to see a fellow Texan living in Montana. Wesley and I swiped right, talked for about a week and had our first date at Aunt T's coffee shop after my 12-hour nightshift. He said he didn't think I was very interested in him on that first date, I was very much so and blame it on my post-nightshift zombi-ness. The rest is history!

The Proposal

11.22.2020

My friend Joe is a RN at the hospital that also does photography on the side, so I told him I wanted to have Christmas pictures taken for Wesley and I's first year living in Montana to use as our Christmas cards. We took the dogs (Moses and Elmo) up to Wesley's property and had a few pictures taken in a couple of different spots. Then it was Joe's idea to have a couple of photos with just Wesley and I, so we put the dogs away in the truck. We walked to a different location with an awesome view and Joe instructed us on different poses, one with our backs turned away from each other. When I turned around, Wesley was on one knee with the ring and asked me to marry him, and of course I said yes! He met up with Joe and his wife Morgan that morning to show him where he was going to propose and to give him the ring so I didn't notice it in his pocket. I was so surprised and had no idea he had this planned!
