Benito Juarez International Airport
Monica and I will be staying Thursday through Monday, potentially longer. You could easily spend a week eating and visiting different parts of the city, so that's up to you!
The metro is widely used by the city inhabitants, it can be extremely crowded and hectic when people are going to and from work, making it easy to miss stops. Other times of the day it is very easy to use. There are specific carts at the end for women and children only, with police guards present. They are also protected by video cameras now.
No. Of course showering is fine, just don't drink the bath water, you have to ingest to possibly get sick. Be weary of ice in your drinks at local eateries, as they are commonly used using tap water, as well as foods that require washing with water, such as salads. Nice restaurants are generally safe to eat and drink at. Bottled water is always a good option. You are likely safe to brush your teeth with the water, but we still use bottle just in case.
Local eateries that are less touristy may leave meat out, while delicious, risks contamination. If you do eat meat, make sure it appears cooked well. Again, most touristy areas are safe to eat at. Most street food is safe if it does not include meat.
We do recommend it. There are banks all across the city you can use, be wary of transaction fee's, but overall, your money will go a long way, especially with food. If you plan on shopping, it may be a good idea to leave space in an extra carry on. We always bring Pepto Bismol too lol.
