Our Story

October 26, 2019

Whether it was love at first sight or divine intervention, Michelle and Wesley were destined to be together. They first met on a late night out in Dallas, Texas. It was Michelle's very first night in TX and she was celebrating her 30th birthday and Halloween weekend with two of her girlfriends. The Deep Ellum streets were filled with people in costumes, running around the town. Michelle and her friends decided to go somewhere less crowded and stumbled upon Punch Bowl Social. Surprisingly, there was no one there so it was a perfect getaway from all the chaos. Moments later, Wesley and two of his friends walked in. Immediately, both groups acknowledged each other since they were the only people there. Michelle noticed that one of Wesley's friends was wearing a similar light up birthday necklace that she was wearing and walked right up to them and said, "Hey, we're twins!" Turns out, they were out celebrating his friend's 30th birthday as well. The ice was broken and all six of them decided to mingle and take some shots. As the night progressed Michelle and Wesley would exchange glances at each other, but made no moves, then suddenly one of her friends asked her, "whose number would you want?" Michelle replied with a look at Wesley and said, "him" and with no hesitation her friend had dragged her over to Wesley and asked, "are you single?" Wesley replied, "yes" and her friend quickly snuck away leaving Michelle there with him. The two giggled and started talking and couldn't stop. They stayed together the rest of the night and even joked about possibly being soulmates. Numbers were exchanged and as they said goodbye they discussed meeting up again before Michelle flew back to California. A day later, Wesley had asked to take Michelle out to dinner, but since she didn't want to ditch her friends she suggested they come as well. More connections were made and butterflies were growing. She was amazed to find out that he didn't like country music (she assumed everyone from Texas liked country music) and that he has the same birthday as her dad. He was hiding his nerves and was in his head the whole night; worried that he had ruined the connection with his dad jokes. Once they said their final goodbyes they agreed to have a phone date when Michelle was back in CA. That first phone date lasted 5 hours and they talked practically every night after that despite the time difference. Wesley asked Michelle to be his girlfriend December 12th, and they began a long-distance relationship. As time went on, the two were blissfully happy, but bummed that they couldn't be together in person. Michelle's sister, Aileen, suggested that Michelle invite Wesley to a family girl’s trip to Vegas in January 2020. Michelle thought that would be crazy considering it would be the third time they'd see each other and that he would be traveling alone and end up spending the weekend with her two older sisters and some of her girl cousins, but asked anyway. Wesley said yes and once they saw each other in Las Vegas their love was confirmed and they both knew they could no longer do long-distance. They had their first official date at the top of the Stratosphere and the rest was magical. On their last day together that weekend Michelle couldn't stop crying and they both did not want to say goodbye, but they knew this was just the beginning. A week later Michelle was offered a job in TX and moved February 20, 2020. Little did they know that life, and the world around them, would quickly get even more crazy and unpredictable, but their love prevailed through it all and they had each other through and through. Devastatingly, Michelle's sister Aileen passed away in May 2020. It was a tremendous loss, but it quickly showed them how much they love each other and that their love could get them through anything – good or bad. Maybe it is divine intervention after all. God must have picked these two to be together, to create a home, a life, a love, forever and ever.
