Part of why we're so excited to get married in Stinson Beach is that we got engaged just up the road in Point Reyes! We stayed the weekend at Olema House and got fresh oysters from the Hog Island Oyster Shack for a picnic.

I had just moved to Atlanta one month prior, and our first couple dates proved that Emily was special. Over drinks at a local wine bar, I could already see some of the traits that make her a great partner like how she cares for others around her. On our very first date we also bonded over was a desire to move (back) to California, and four years later here we are!   The picture below is one of the earliest I can find of us together, doing a tree planting for a local Atlanta charity with my office.

On their first date, Emily was tired from running a 5K that morning and didn't expect much. They spent the first hour of the date with Emily grilling Wes about why on earth he would move from California to Georgia and debating ghosts ( Wes was aghast that his science-backed coworkers believed in them, Emily Believes because it is fun that way). The night proceeded with a change in location, talking about their love of sci-fi fantasy books, lots of laughs, and Emily admiring of how handsome Wes was. They departed with a missed opportunity for a kiss and a new spark in Emily's eyes for the cute California guy who likes sci fi.

Emily and her friend Alex Lopilato went to a bar to watch the Georgia game. Unfamiliar with the world of online dating, Alex agreed to look at the dating apps Emily was on. He found a nice guy, who seemed just dorky enough to be his friend and recommended Emily give him a chance. Ta-da! Here we are.
