We’re getting married!

At the start of 2017, Elisabeth and a few friends joined a shuffleboard league through DC Fray (a DC social sports league) at Spider Kelly's, a local bar in Arlington. A curly-headed guy named Wesley from the opposing team introduced himself and began to man-splain the rules of the game to Elisabeth. Little did he know she was already pretty good at the game, and her team won the match that night. However, Wes was in it for the long game... Week after week, Elisabeth and Wes chatted during the Tuesday night games, staying late to keep playing and hanging out together. Until finally, in Week 5, Wes got up the courage to ask her out. On March 6, they met at the Irish pub O'Sullivans in Arlington for their first (official) date. They drank Smithwicks, talked and laughed, and both left with the feeling that they just had to keep this going...and so they did! It must be said that in the final week of Shuffleboard - Week 7, The Playoffs - Wes and Lizzie faced off at opposite ends of the shuffleboard table, and Wes's charm and cute smile knocked Lizzie off her game. He took home the championship prize (a leaky travel mug), but it's safe to say they both came out on top!

Wes and Elisabeth had booked a little cabin at the base of Sugarloaf Mountain in Maryland for their 3-year dating anniversary. On Friday morning, they set out for a hike up the mountain. When they reached the White Rocks overlook, it was perfectly quiet and they had the beautiful view all to themselves. After a few moments taking in the view together and agreeing that the past 3 years had been just amazing...Wes got down on one knee and pulled a ring out of his pocket. Elisabeth said "yes!", and they practically ran back down the mountain to begin celebrating!
