Wesley and I met long before we started dating. We encountered each other a few times at a friends and family kid’s event since August 2019. We both agreed that we were attracted to one another but we lived in different states and thought this would never work. Wesley lived in Las Vegas and I was in American Canyon, California raising my two children. Wesley started visiting California more and we kept being reacquainted by my friend and his cousin. I didn’t think much of it at first but in Feb 2020, I sent Wesley a friend request on Instagram. We exchanged likes on stories and posts just like any friend would. It wasn’t until Sept 2020, Wesley finally had the courage to ask me for my phone number. Then the texting became frequent, the first few dates were being planned, and our visits flying or driving to one another became what was forming into the best relationship we ever had.
It was Memorial Day weekend, and we had booked our first Disneyland trip together. Disneyland has been my happy place to go to with the Liana and Logan since they could crawl. Saturday, May 27th was a day spent at California Adventure. Then come Sunday, May 28th, we entered Disneyland Park and it was overcast! I wanted to knock out family pictures at the start of the day, but Wes wanted to wait. So, we went about our day throughout the park. It wasn't until about 2pm when the sun came out when Wes finally agreed to take family pictures at the castle. Along the way was the ride Splash Mountain and they were going to close later that week for renovations. I wanted to have us all ride that since the kids were now willing to. Since the ride involved getting wet, Wes was against it which I found odd. He didn't want us to look like we got off a water ride for pictures. He then kept asking about how the photographers were at Disney and if they really took our pictures. I told him that we would just have them scan our QR code from our phone. We then approached the Disneyland castle, and Wes showed the photographer something from his phone. The photographer positioned us as a family then as a couple. Once she told me to face the opposite direction, I knew.... I turned around and Wes was on one knee with the kids and everyone around us cheering for us. It was so loud that I could not hear what Wes had to say. All I caught was "Babe, are you going to answer?" Apparently, Wes was down on his knee which felt like minutes. I immediately answered "Yes!" and the kids ran up to us and gave us a hug. The photographer then took photos again but this time with the engagement ring. Soon after, the parade started. It was a beautiful day to remember.
