Question

Naval Base Rules

Answer

The wedding reception will take place on an active military base. Due to recent global events, Naval Station Newport now requires each guest to present a valid Passport, REAL ID–compliant Driver’s License, or Military ID when checking in with Security at Gate 1. Entry to the base will not be permitted unless every adult in your vehicle presents one of these forms of identification. For everyone’s safety and in accordance with base regulations, the following items are strictly prohibited: firearms, weapons, illegal drugs, and alcohol. Attempting to bring any of these items onto the base will result in denial of entry and possible removal by military police. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Question

Naval Base Parking

Answer

Parking for the wedding reception is available at: 95 Perry Rd, Newport, RI 02841 Guests may use either of the two parking lots adjacent to the Officer’s Club. Please note that overnight parking is not permitted at Naval Station Newport. If you are unable to drive yourself back to your hotel at the conclusion of the reception, we kindly ask that you plan ahead by either carpooling to and from the Officer's Club with a group that has a designated driver, or scheduling an Uber or Lyft. There are numerous Uber and Lyft drivers in the Newport area who have been vetted by Naval Station Newport Security and are authorized to access the base; these vetted drivers may drop off and pick up directly in front of the Officer’s Club. If you are unable to reserve a vetted driver, all other Uber or Lyft drivers will be required to drop off and pick up passengers outside the Security Checkpoint at Gate 1 on Training Station Road, which is about a 5-minute walk from the Officer's Club.
