How We Met

We first crossed paths back in freshman year of high school—just two kids in homeroom. Meagan had a huge crush on Cody but was always too shy to say anything. Though our paths crossed occasionally throughout high school, it was not until senior year that our story truly began. Cody came to cheer Meagan on at her senior night volleyball game, and from that night on, everything changed. What started as a shy hello grew into a deep and lasting love. Through the years, Cody has opened Meagan’s heart to new experiences with patience and encouragement, inspiring her adventurous spirit. In return, Meagan’s compassion and genuine kindness have deeply touched Cody. He admires her unwavering care for others, while she holds profound respect for his resilience, positive outlook, and steadfast dedication to those he loves. Together, we have faced adversity with strength and grace, each trial only strengthening the bond we share. As we prepare to unite our lives in marriage, we look forward to celebrating with the family and friends who have supported us along the way.

The Proposal

7.30.24

Cody’s proposal to Meagan was nothing short of magical—and a true reflection of just how much thought and love he put into every detail. The proposal was carefully and intentionally planned... or so he thought. The plan began with a previously scheduled trip to Colorado—one that Meagan was taking with her mom, her grandmother, and her sister, Hannah. Colorado holds a special place in Meagan’s heart and a lifetime of cherished memories, from childhood visits with her grandparents to treasured family traditions. Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs is one of Meagan’s favorite places in the world. Knowing how much Garden of the Gods meant to her—especially because of the time she spent there with her late grandfather—Cody chose this breathtaking natural landmark as the perfect place to ask the biggest question of his life. With its towering red rock formations set against the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains, it was not only visually stunning, but deeply meaningful. The day before the proposal, Cody scouted the perfect sunrise spot, knowing how much Meagan loves sunrises and sunsets. That evening, he looped in Meagan’s family, who already knew what was coming, and got them “on board” for an early morning wake-up. But what truly made the moment unforgettable was the surprise waiting just around the corner—Cody’s parents. He arranged for them to make the 15-hour drive from Wisconsin through the night to arrive just in time for sunrise. He even flew in a close family friend, Tanya, to secretly photograph the moment. Meagan, certain Cody would never propose without them, was completely unsuspecting. And then… the morning came. As Meagan, Cody, and her family pulled into Garden of the Gods before sunrise, everything nearly unraveled. Cody’s dad, who was supposed to be hidden, was casually strolling across the parking lot. Thankfully, Hannah’s quick thinking behind the wheel (and a well-timed park job) kept Meagan from spotting him. Moments after getting out of the car, Meagan’s mom shouted “Bear!”—having actually seen one cross the path nearby. As everyone looked around, Meagan noticed a woman with a camera standing off in the distance, suspiciously overdressed in sunglasses and a hat. That woman, of course, was Tanya—who had unknowingly come face-to-face with the bear while trying to stay hidden, all while internally panicking and still somehow keeping her cover. Meanwhile, Cody was starting to panic too. First his dad, then Tanya, and now Meagan had spotted someone behind the rock formation he had picked for the proposal. As Meagan pointed them out to Cody, his heart dropped, it was his mom. He was sure the surprise was ruined. But in a twist of luck, Meagan did not think twice about it. Being in Colorado, and it being early and quiet, she assumed it was just a “stoner” finding a spot to enjoy the sunrise with a little morning smoke. The idea that it might be Cody’s mom—or that a proposal was minutes away—did not even cross her mind. In a final effort to preserve the surprise, Cody gently took Meagan’s hand as the first light of day spilled over the red rocks and mountains. He led her to the spot he had carefully chosen, dropped to one knee, and asked her to spend forever with him. Surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of Garden of the Gods and the people who mean the most to them, Meagan said “yes.” It was not exactly how Cody planned it—but it was perfect in every way.

Where They Are Now

Cody and Meagan are currently living in Hartford, Wisconsin. They are thrilled to share that they are now homeowners of a beautiful new build home. Cody has established a successful career with Beeler Construction, where he serves as a foreman. He also proudly serves as a Lieutenant on the Hartford Fire Department. In his free time, Cody enjoys hunting trips, spending time outdoors, watching football, and golfing. Meagan is pursuing her career in finance while working toward her MBA, which she will complete in the spring of 2026. Alongside her studies, she coaches as an assistant varsity volleyball coach at Hartford Union. When she isn’t studying or on the court, Meagan loves being outdoors and seeking out new adventures. Together, despite their busy schedules, they cherish finding time to travel, explore, and experience new things side by side.
