How We Met

Waves Only...

We met at our previous employers. The company I worked for provided Adams company IT services, rented a space in the same building and shared a breakroom that overlooked Adams shop. One day on our daily "fruit trip" my wonderful coworkers dared me to wave to someone out in the shop. I waved, Adam (who acquired the nickname "Wave") waved back. Over the next 2 months or so Adam figured out what time we would get fruit from the break room and would be waiting by his machine to wave at me almost everyday. I finally asked one of his coworkers (who I went to high school with) what his name was. During this time I did not have Facebook, the only way I could find out more about him was on my Instagram... which was a shot in the dark. Surprisingly, Adam had one and I decided to slide into his DM's. On September 11th, 2018 we officially started talking and shared more than just a wave! We began talking daily, continuing to wave at each other. We created a shared Spotify playlist where we would add songs that we liked or wanted each other to listen to. Music is huge for us and I feel like this was major bonding point for us. Adam was persistent and asked me out to dinner multiple times, I turned him down.

The Proposal

Pine Grove Campgrounds - May 30th, 2020

Saturday May 30th, 2020 started out like any normal day. We had planned a surprise 80th Birthday drive-by parade (thanks COVID) for my Grandma. Adams mother Debbie and my Grandma Louise have Birthdays that are a day apart. Debbie LOVES to spend time at their camper and normally for her birthday we go to the campgrounds to celebrate. Adam had went up Friday night with my Grandmas camper and I was planning on driving up after the surprise party. My Grandma's surprise party went fantastic, when it was time to leave my parents offered to drive me to the campgrounds. This was super helpful because we would have had my car and the camper up at the campgrounds (which was a little much) We made a quick stop at my house to gather some things and make our way west. Unknown to me AND my mom, Adam was planning on proposing when we arrived. We pull into the campground and Adam and his parents are waiting at our campsite (a few sites down from Adam's parents camper) Adam opened the door for me and I went right to work unloading the car and grabbing my things so my parents could head back home. Adam kept trying to get my attention and I kept ignoring him and telling him I wanted to get this unloaded. Adam finally grabbed me by the arms and pulled me off to the side and that's when he got down on one knee. All that I could say was "Shut Up!" I think I said it a dozen times. I have no idea what he actually said to me in the moment, but I obviously said YES! Adam's family and a few of our friends were hiding at his parents campsite and came out of cover after the excitement to celebrate.
