COVID updates

As we all know, COVID - 19 has really thrown a wrench in almost everything this year. We really hope you can celebrate our special day with us as planned! However, we know this is a difficult time for everyone and want to prioritize the health and safety of all of you. We understand any concerns with people not wanting to travel or attend due to COVID - 19, and we support whatever decision is right for you. It is important to note that as of right now, our wedding will continue as originally planned. There are more precautions in place at the venue, and we also scaled back our guest list, but it will not be possible to be socially distant at times, especially during dinner and dancing. Please be aware that group size allowance can change for the venue at any time if any new orders or guidelines come out before the big day. If in the event we have to downsize more than we already, have we will reach out to you. New mask ordinance: the state of Wisconsin released the mask/face covering mandate the day after we sent out invites. Not going to lie, I cried a lot. We finally felt like things were going to be maybe okay, and then this was released. This means everyone will need to wear a face mask during the ceremony and dancing / socializing part of the reception. Masks are not required during cocktail hour and dinner. We will provide a mask for all guests when you arrive at the venue. We will continue to monitor the situation and will share any updates as we receive them. Please RSVP as soon as possible as we have multiple guest lists and sending out invites in phases. If you do not feel comfortable coming as the day gets closer, PLEASE let us know ASAP so we can update numbers with the venue. Feel free to reach out with any questions! We look forward to celebrating with you!!

The Proposal

February 9th, 2019

For years I would always tease Brandon that for my golden birthday I wanted something either (white) gold and shiny or gold and fluffy. Little did I know he was going to get me both at the same time! I was back home visiting my parents waiting for Brandon to finish up with a “work meeting” that was taking place in Platteville on a Saturday morning. I honestly should have figured something was up, looking back on it, it all sounded fishy. Brandon played the part though, even went down the night before and stayed in a hotel, woke up at the time that he usually would get up for work, and made it seem like he was doing something work-related. Our first golden retriever, Stanley, was from a breeder near Platteville. Earlier in the week, Brandon had contacted the breeder after they posted they had more Golden’s available for pick up. After they had said yes there was a boy left, he decided that was how he was going to ask me to marry him. Instead of going to Platteville for work, he was going down there to get our newest family member, Finley. Brandon had his parents meet him down there so his mom could hold Finley on the way over to my parent's house. Brandon’s dad was bringing him the ring, that he bought the weekend of Thanksgiving - what the heck were you waiting for here, kid! Once they were a few miles from my parent's house, they stopped at a gas station to buy some paper towels because Finley puked a few times on the drive, and to tie the ring in a bow around his collar. Brandon finally showed up to my parent's house, and here he comes walking in with a brand new puppy. Umm, what are you doing with a puppy is all I could think. As I got closer and started to pet him, I noticed the ring around his collar. Brandon had me grab Fin, while he undid the bow and got down on one knee asking me to marry him. Before I could answer, he said “we are kind of a package deal here.” So, I got both of my golden birthday wishes, and now I get to marry my best friend!
