One Single Thread of Gold Tied Me to You

It all started with a gym membership…

We both showed up at the same gym, looking for something—maybe fitness, maybe something else entirely. My dad got me the membership, hoping it would give me some peace of mind, while Nate had his own reasons for being there. For months, we moved through that space unaware of each other’s existence. Then one random Thursday night, I decided to join an evening class. That’s when we finally met. It was one of those moments that felt too right to be coincidence, like there was something pulling us together—though neither of us had any idea what that something was. From there, things just seemed to shift, like the pieces of a puzzle we didn’t know we were even putting together. I got curious, so I asked around about Nate. But to him, I was just “the new girl” asking questions. A few weeks later, on a work trip, a little tipsy and a little bold, I sent him my number through social media —figuring, why not? That one message led to an ice cream date, discovering we grew up a few minutes apart, a weird dollar bill, random games at the same park, and more red birds than I ever thought to count. And from there, everything just clicked. Now, we’re building the family we didn’t know we needed, and things feel like they were always meant to turn out this way.

For all the days along the way
