Mary and John first met at a Navy Track meet John invited Mary to for John’s friends Jess and Lindsey. After talking for a little bit they decided to go on a date to see how it went! After a very awkward car ride where John wouldn’t stop bragging about the Eagles wining with super bowl, and Mary being very shy they decided it would be best to stay friends. After a couple months they became very close friends, and spent most weekend together thus starting Mary’s crush on John. One of the weekends they spent together was at the Annapolis Cup, a croquet match between Navy and St. John’s college. This was also the weekend John asked Mary to attend the Naval Academy’s ring dance with him. (By fake proposing to Mary) A few weeks later the couple got together and spent many more amazing weekends together traveling around going on different adventures together to New York, Philly, Baltimore, Ocean City Maryland, and many other places. Right after John graduated from the Naval Academy, Mary moved to Florida to spend a year living away from her home state of Maryland and the couple spent 10 months apart with one deployment in the mix.
With Covid-19 messing up many of his plans to propose, John had to put his proposal on hold. But he grew impatient, knowing Mary was the girl he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. On May 3rd, 2020 they were having a normal movie night when John decided he was done with waiting. He spontaneously proposed to Mary minutes before her birthday in an effort to give her the best present ever. Without hesitation Mary said yes. The couple can not wait to spend the rest of their lives together, and go on even more adventure together!
