The New Plan

In consideration of the health of their friends and family, Ryan and Madolin have decided to cancel their June 6 wedding. They are obviously pretty bummed about this, but are now looking forward to celebrating together in a private ceremony in July (fingers crossed!). Due to the uncertainty of the current world circumstances, they are not making plans to reschedule. They are hoping that as the world gets back to normal, they will be able to celebrate with their loved ones in more casual settings. Ryan and Madolin will share any photos or videos from the ceremony, so you can still witness the special moments as originally planned. Please feel free to send cards to them at: 234 Silver Creek Rd., Marquette, MI 49855. Any cards or messages received will be opened on their wedding day. Alternatively, you can leave a message by entering your name in the RSVP tool.

How We Met

While attending school and living in East Lansing, Madolin and Ryan crossed paths many times before actually getting to know each other. Even though they lived in the same apartment complex for over a year, it wasn't until a good mutual friend (Shout out Morgane!) brought Madolin to Ryan's apartment that they finally met. After that, they started to get together from time to time, usually to pre-game or watch movies until eventually, they decided to quit playing games and make it official. 8 years later, here we are....

The Proposal

In Madolin's Eyes

Every year for Labor Day, we have a huge end of year party at our cottage on Lake Huron. Most recently, we started the "Beer Olympics," complete with opening ceremony. Typically the opening ceremony is on Saturday evening, with the games following Sunday; and this year my mom was just overly excited. I knew she was looking forward to the games, but she just KEPT pushing that everyone be back and ready at 6 pm. I even mentioned it to my friend Carrie- "My mom is like, SUPER geeked about this. She keeps asking me if she can use the microphone and thank everyone for coming before I start the official stuff." Little did I know, she and my dad were in on the plan. She started off with the microphone, and thanked everyone for coming up and then started to hand the microphone off to me. At the last minute though, she said "oh! I think Ryan wanted to say something too." Ryan grabbed the mic and started by acknowledging all the hard work I put into the games, and continued to say, "Madolin claimed that there was no way to make this weekend better because this has all of her friends and family- but I have a good idea on how we can make it even better." He grabbed my hand and pulled me over to the sand, and got down on his knee. He asked me to marry him, and I'm pretty sure my brain disconnected from my body because I couldn't remember if I said yes. I really just wanted to hug him and never stop, and I don't think I said anything but Oh My Godddddd. Once it all came back to me, I made sure to verbally confirm that I was absolutely gonna marry him. He had my brother play some celebration music, we popped champagne and everyone did celebration shots of tequila. And as long as that story was, the night wasn't even close to over. He arranged for my friends Jordyn (who had to fly back from CO!) and Heather to drive up for the rest of the weekend. He also arranged for all of his family members, including his brother that lives near Detroit to drive over to celebrate with us.
