We're getting married!

We met our freshman year of high school in an Army JROTC program/class and instantly became friends. We stayed as on and off friends throughout high school until the tail-end of junior year. From that point on, we became the closest of friends but I still managed to friend-zone him... After countless attempts made by Jacob to be more than just my friend, I finally said yes to being his girlfriend. Now I am marrying my best friend.

We started off the afternoon by going on a scenic helicopter tour around Galveston Island. The timing was perfect as the water was actually blue for once. After the tour was over, we drove down to the seawall and parked the truck. I convinced Wendy that we were heading onto the beach to get a closer look at the blue water. We walked out onto the jetty across from Ben and Jerry's, where I had a photographer waiting on the rocks. The photographer is a good friend of ours so disguising him was a difficult task. Wendy and I sat on the end of the jetty for quite a while before I convinced her to let me take pictures of her. I took several pictures of her with my phone with the beautiful blue water in the background. I started to think I was going to miss my opportunity, at which time a drone flew over and was hovering at the end of the jetty. Wendy got distracted by the drone and I gave my undercover photographer the signal. I pulled the ring out of my pocket and she turned around to find me on one knee. I couldn't even ask her to marry me before I saw tears rolling down her face. I began to cry as well, and couldnt think to tell her anything other than "I love you.." I got myself together and somehow remembered to ask if she would marry me. We enjoyed the rest of our day in Galveston and have been planning a wedding ever since.
