We first met on the stairs in the O'Brien dorm hall on 8/18/2018 & fate did not let us forget about each other. We went separate ways shortly after meeting to be with our teams, but about 24 hours later we ran into each other at Menlo's Tavern Night where we played air hockey & Wendy "totally let" Evan win ;). From there, the next two days were filled with accidental run-ins and short conversations because neither wanted to let the other go by without saying something. On 8/21/2018, we went on our first date where we got Drumstick ice cream from Safeway & sat in the car talking for three hours. It was during this date that we realized we had met once before, again on the O'Brien stairs, a couple of weeks earlier when we volunteered to work Nike camps for our teams. Between boba runs, Target trips, El Gru burrito nights, or just hanging in the dorms with friends, we became best friends instantly. On 9/3/2018 we took a few friends & Evan gave us a tour of Half Moon Bay. This is when one of our favorite pictures was taken, which you can see on the FAQ page on this website. On 9/7/2018, Evan bought sunflowers, had Sunflower by Post Malone playing, and asked Wendy to be his girlfriend. After a resounding yes, they shared a milkshake and did so for each month anniversary throughout their first year dating. What Evan didn't know at the time was that 9/7 was already an incredibly special date to Wendy, as it is her grandparent's wedding anniversary. Now, to get married on 9/7/2024 is an absolute dream come true. We were (and still are) each others' biggest fans, going to every soccer and softball game that we possibly could. Clearly, we were nearly inseparable, so when covid hit it was very strange. Because of all of the new rules at Menlo, we decided to move in together on 1/3/2021 for the first semester that student athletes were back on campus to workout together. Because of covid, Evan was able to stay & play an extra semester, which meant we got to walk the stage at graduation together! Being able to celebrate such an accomplishment together was a perfect close to our amazing Menlo journey. After learning how to navigate post-graduation life together for almost a year, Evan proposed on 4/7/2023 while on a hike when we were camping with some of Wendy's family. On an otherwise somewhat cloudy day, a perfect ray of sunshine came down as he stopped & smiled bigger than ever before. The "YES!" was arguably loud enough for everyone in the forest to hear. We're so grateful for everyone who has been here for all or any of our journey, & can't wait to share the big day with all of you!
