Parque Kennedy
The heart of Miraflores. Surrounded by cafés, restaurants, street vendors, and famous for its friendly cats. A great central meeting point and very walkable area.
Walk the Malecón (Miraflores)
A beautiful coastal boardwalk overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Perfect for sunset walks, photos, or simply enjoying the ocean breeze. You’ll also see paragliders flying over the cliffs, and yes, you can try it! Paragliding over the ocean is one of the most iconic experiences in Lima.
Centro Histórico
A UNESCO World Heritage Site filled with colonial architecture, churches, and plazas. We recommend visiting during the day and preferably going in a group.
Museo del Convento de San Francisco y Catacumbas
The complex features beautiful colonial architecture, an impressive library with thousands of antique books, and the famous catacombs beneath the church. The catacombs were used as a burial site during the colonial period and are now one of Lima’s most fascinating historical attractions.
Barranco
Lima’s most charming and artistic neighborhood. Colorful streets, murals, live music, and cozy cafés. Don’t miss the Puente de los Suspiros and the surrounding streets at sunset.
Museo de Sitio Pucllana
An ancient pre-Inca archaeological site located in the middle of Miraflores. A unique way to experience Lima’s deep history without leaving the safer tourist areas.
Mercado 1 de Surquillo
If you want to experience the real flavors of Peru, this traditional local market is a must-visit. The Mercado Nº1 de Surquillo is where many Lima chefs and locals buy fresh ingredients such as exotic fruits, seafood, herbs, and spices. It’s a colorful and lively place where you can try authentic Peruvian dishes like ceviche, fresh juices, and local street food while discovering ingredients unique to Peru. Go in the morning to see the market at its most vibrant and try seasonal fruits like lúcuma, chirimoya, or granadilla.
Hipódromo de Monterrico
Enjoy live horse racing at one of the city’s most traditional venues. Perfect for a fun afternoon in Surco.
Costa Verde
Lima is one of the few capital cities in the world where you can surf year-round. Head to the beaches along the Costa Verde in Miraflores for great waves, surf schools, and beautiful ocean views. Perfect for both beginners and experienced surfers.
Circuito Mágico del Agua
This beautiful park features a series of illuminated fountains that create a spectacular nighttime water and light show. Visitors can walk through the fountains, enjoy interactive water displays, and watch choreographed light and music performances. It is a fun and memorable experience for visitors of all ages.
Paracas
A stunning coastal desert destination about 3–4 hours south of Lima. Paracas is known for the Ballestas Islands, home to sea lions, penguins, and marine birds, dramatic desert cliffs meeting the Pacific Ocean, and peaceful beach landscapes. It’s often described as a mix between desert and ocean, raw, open, and beautiful. Perfect for a relaxing overnight trip.
Huacachina
A small oasis village surrounded by massive sand dunes in the desert (about 1 hour from Paracas). It feels surreal. Palm trees and a lagoon in the middle of endless sand. You can ride dune buggies, go sandboarding, and watch the sunset from the top of the dunes. It’s adventurous, fun, and very different from anything most visitors have seen before.
