Welcome to Sicily, the largest Mediterranean island! Sicily is just off the "toe" of Italy's "boot." It's rich history is reflected in sites like the Valley of the Temples, the well-preserved ruins of 7 monumental, Doric-style Greek temples, and in the Byzantine mosaics at the Cappella Palatina, a former royal chapel in the capital city Palermo. On Sicily’s eastern edge is Mount Etna, one of Europe’s highest active volcanoes.
Where to land:
Catania Fontanarossa airport (less chaotic)
or
Palermo Falcone Borsellino airport.
If you are not renting a car, you can take the bus that brings you to Agrigento, there are several leaving from the airport every hour. You can then take a taxi from San Leone (10 minute ride).
Where to stay:
We suggest staying in the area of San Leone. It is a seaside town with plenty of restaurants/beach bars/supermarkets etc all in walking distance.
You can also choose to stay in Agrigento where you'll have views of the stunning "Valle dei Templi"
