How We Met

Once upon a time not long ago, a charming, intelligent, athletic, tall, successful young man (he definitely didn’t write this story) from Connecticut named Jonathan went to a Boston Red Sox American League Championship Series game with his siblings. The tickets came from their mother Betty thanks in part to a vendor from her company. On the way to the October game (which the Red Sox definitely won), they stopped off at the Boston Beer Works to meet up with their cousin to enjoy some pregaming. That pregaming turned into 4 innings of quick work by the Red Sox and the eventual entrance to Fenway Park by the four siblings. Once upon a time not long ago – okay that’s a lie it was over 7 years ago – a psychology major aka Rebecca aka Becky aka Becky with the Good Hair, and her college roommate bought standing room only tickets to the same Red Sox game. Being rebellious girls, they snuck down into the same section of seats as the seats for Jonathan and his siblings. Upon Jonathan and his siblings arriving late to the game, Becky and her roommate got scared about the seats they were in. Fortunately, the people’s seats that Becky and her roommate were in never showed up to the game. Jonathan sat next to Becky and started talking and exchanging pleasantries. After a few beers and a few obnoxious Karens sitting in front of them complaining about how good of a time they were having… Becky and Jonathan exchanged numbers. The magic happened in the 8th inning when David “Big Papi” Ortiz hit a grand slam to tie up the game. Everyone in the crowd was hugging each other. It was electric. Becky and Jonathan shared their first hug and made plans to watch the rest of the playoffs together via live texting and eventually going on a few dates centered around the World Series. After the Red Sox clinched the title over the Cardinals, the rest is history.
