Have you ever been on a blind date? We have! And now we're getting married! Ben and Olivia were introduced to each other through a mutual friend (thanks Maddy). After a few weeks of talking and getting to know each other, Ben just knew. 1 year and 3 months later, Ben decided he was going to ask Olivia to be his wife.
Ben asked Olivia to marry him at the Denver Zoo lights on December 20th 2021. Ben and Olivia went to the Denver Zoo Lights the year prior and deemed it to be a yearly tradition. As the days got closer to the proposal, Ben traveled multiple times to Atlanta to make sure the ring was absolutely perfect before he traveled home to Colorado for the holidays. The big day was approaching quickly. While at the zoo lights with Bens cousin Daniel and his wife Ayla, Ben and Daniel frantically looked for the perfect place to capture the special moment. The area originally planned for the proposal didn’t live up to Ben’s expectations so he sought out a different area within the zoo. After passing this area, it came to the realization to all that half the lights on the structure were burnt out; back to the drawing board. After a brisk walk through most of the zoo Olivia comments that her and Ben should take a picture in front of the same area as the year prior. It was time for Ben to devise his final plan with Daniel for the big moment. Shortly after looking at the elephant exhibit they approached the beautiful blue lights. Ben sent the signal to Daniel and after waiting for a family of seven to move out of the frame of the picture, it was time. Ben and Olivia went to the exact spot as the year prior and got their picture taken to commemorate their now annual tradition but Ben decided they needed one more picture Suddenly, Ben gets down on his knee and asks Olivia to marry him. After she asked him what he was doing, she said yes and proceeded to tell Ben that the ring was upside down. After this they were both flooded with excitement! After Ben popped the question, they traveled to Broomfield where Cindy ( Olivia’s best friend and maid of honor) organized a surprise engagement party where the couple celebrated their big news and perfect night with family and friends.
