Being the new girl at work is always a bit nerve-racking. Who do I eat lunch with? How will I remember everyone’s name? How do I even turn on the computer? But the biggest question I ended up having was “Who keeps leaving Twizzlers on my desk?” Throughout the week Twizzlers kept showing up. No note, no clue where they came from. Friday finally arrives and as I’m packing up a message popped up on my screen ”so how was your first week, besides the Twizzlers?”. Finally, the mystery was solved! It was the person who sat right behind me, Joe. I couldn’t believe it! How did he keep sneaking those Twizzlers on my desk?!? We had a quick chat, I thanked him for the candy, and left for the weekend. Over the next several weeks we grew closer; eating lunch with his crew, sneaking away on coffee runs, and leaving love notes (aka Drake song lyrics) on each other’s desk or in a coat pocket. But I knew he was someone special when he was waiting for me in the parking lot the morning after I ran my first 1/2 marathon and insisted, (nicely), that he drive me from my car to the building entrance. He swept me right off my (sore) feet! Even though I stayed with the company for a short time, I had found my partner for life!

The day Joe proposed we had planned a day in one of our favorite places, Astoria Park. Before we left Joe suggested we go up on the roof of our building. Something we have done in the past to enjoy the view of the city skyline. As we walked over to our usual spot Joe started to talk about how many beautiful things we have seen together as boyfriend and girlfriend and how he would love to continue the journey as husband and wife. I was beyond surprised when I saw him get down on one knee and ask me to marry him! In between an embarrassing amount of sobbing, I, of course, said “YES!” We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter of our lives together with you.
