We’re getting married!!

Like most things between Ryan and Mariah, their “official” relationship status came with a little laughter and a lot of heart. One evening, mid-conversation, Ryan casually said, “So... we aren’t seeing other people, right?” To him, that was the big moment—the soft-launch of being officially, undeniably boyfriend and girlfriend. In his mind, they were locked in. Mariah, however, wasn’t totally sure what that meant. Sweet? Yes. Serious? Maybe? Clear? Not quite. A few hours later, as the overthinking set in (as it tends to), she picked up the phone and called Ryan. “Hey... just to clarify... are we dating now?” He laughed. “Uh, yeah. I thought we were.” And just like that, it was official—confused wording and all.
