One of my most proudest accomplishments is running over to help this stranger who was screaming from a very scary spider in the corner of a nursery, why?! Because, this 6 year old stranger was val, and since that day, we have been each other’s half. Val and I compliment each other, she is fun, she is compassionate, she is fiery and not afraid to ask hard questions and stir the pot. She has always been my hero, and my sister. Her and her amazing family adopted me as another member of their family even after burping at their dinner table the first time they invited me. I would not be half the person I am today without her love.

This man is constant and loyal. We go way back-- back far enough to have seen the best and the worst in one another. Yet he’s still here because that is just the kind of man he is. He is eternally low-maintenance, forever a calming presence, and always a source of comfort. Christian is also the kind of dude who continues to amaze me with his many talents. Ask Christian about guitars, triathlons, or restoring old cars if you get past the “Hi” and don’t quite know what to say next.

Gabrielle is thoughtful, she is incredibly generous and has been my rock for a long time now. She continually puts others before herself, she is dedicated, she is incredibly compassionate, and she is empowering. Gabrielle reminds me to believe in myself, to do hard things and is always there to encourage along the way. I am not quite sure what I would do without her, so I am excited to grow out and wrinkly by her side!

Thank God for the gift Mandee has been in my life over the past couple of years. There is so much I could say, but simply, she is more than a friend, mentor, workout buddy, role model — she is my sister. Mandee makes everyone feel seen and valued. She loves to serve people, cook for them, and brings a sense of joy into everyday and every situation. She reminds me to trust in the bigger plan, to be patient and still, and she pushes me to do more.

I need Spencer in my life because Spencer is a living reminder that I don’t have to take everything so seriously. His laugh is contagious, his spirit is encouraging, and he speaks hope and joy into every conversation. He likes his eggs with peanut butter, rolls up his jeans even though they’re already too short for his long legs, has an eternal tan, and is likely currently looking for his wallet, phone, and/or car keys. And the best part about Jeremy is that when you’re around him, you can be your authentic self too. Yes, he surfs (quite well). Yes, he’s in a band. Yes, he climbs. And yes, he has a better goatee than Brad Pitt.

I love being with Sabrina because she is the type of friend that checks in with you, that makes you feel at home, that will be so goofy with you, reminds you to slow down and not take life too seriously. She is brilliant, she is hilarious, she is so loving, and I am so thankful to have gotten through many late night kinesiology study sessions, beach walks, and extended long talks about life with her.

She keeps it real, she is passionate, she loves so much, she is constantly creating, and she has believed in me always, even when I have not.

He loves people incredibly well and I’ve been trying to learn his ways since we met on the first day of New Student Orientation at Pepperdine. We were freshman year roommates and have been best-friends ever since. I love this dude to death and aspire to listen to and love others the way he does. Not only does Skye have the best hair at this shindig, but he is also likely the most intelligent human you’ll ever meet. If you are interested in pursuing the truth, you need to talk to this man. He’ll make you think deeply, lead you in the direction of virtue, and ensure you have fun along the way. Did I mention he has insane musical talent, too? And yes, upon request, he can quote the entire Anchorman script from memory.

When I was stressed, she was ready with the extra snacks her mom had brought her. I am thankful for Ali for sticking with me in the confusing, the hard and joyful times. Ali is steadfast in the way she loves whole-heartedly.
