Mia
Maid of Honor
Mia and Katelyn met in 2019, about a month after Katelyn moved to Kansas City. Katelyn wanted to join a small group for nurses, which Mia was in charge of leading. Unfortunately nursing school got to be a little too much, and the small group only met once. However when it came time for Mia to graduate and find a job, she reached out to Katelyn about the NICU. Katelyn loved her job so much that she helped convince Mia to get a job in the NICU as well! Katelyn and Mia then shared in their love of working with babies, being young adult Catholics, and their love for the outdoors. Mia is now one of Katelyn's closest friends and Mia has been incredibly supportive these last few years.
Megan
Matron of Honor
Megan and Katelyn met in 2017 through the Newman Center when Katelyn was finishing up nursing school at CMU and Megan was finishing up PT school at MU. They bonded over their love of the outdoors, doing mission work in Central America, and their love of being Catholic. Megan became a huge support for Katelyn when Katelyn was grieving the loss of her mother. After Megan graduated PT school, she decided to do travel PT in Washington and California. Katelyn visited her twice while she was traveling, and the two would talk on the phone almost daily! They both happened to plan to move to KC in December of 2018, and they decided to be roommates! They continued to grow close while they were roommates for two years, especially during quarantine of 2020. Katelyn had the honor of watching Megan meet her now husband, Colin and become a mom of two littles. Megan has been incredibly supportive of Katelyn and Michael, and is so excited that Katelyn has now found her soulmate!
Allie
Bridesmaid
Allie and Katelyn met in 2014 during Freshman year of college at the Newman center at Mizzou! They both attended a freshman overnight retreat where they quickly bonded over the scariness of being freshman in college, as well as their love of being young adult Catholics! After the retreat, they continued to grow close over late night study sessions at Newman, the many activities they both participated in at the Newman center, as well as a few spring break trips to Colorado and El Salvador! Allie was a huge support to Katelyn as she navigated having a mother fighting cancer back home, and then after Katelyn's mother passed their sophomore year. Katelyn and Allie have continued to stay close post college, and they have loved living in the same city these last few years! Allie and her husband Ryan have been incredibly supportive of Michael and Katelyn's relationship, and have been good role models as Katelyn and Michael navigate the engagement season.
Emily
Bridesmaid
Emily and Katelyn met in 2014 during their freshman year at Mizzou. Katelyn met Emily during the bus ride home from their first Awakenings retreat. From there, a friendship blossomed. The two stayed close during college, and participated in a lot of Newman activities together. They have loved living in the same city post graduation, and continue to hang out regularly. Most recently, their adventures have been joined by Ethan, Emily's now husband, and now Michael too!
Lauren
Bridesmaid
Lauren is Michael's older sister. Katelyn and Lauren met in October of 2024 when Michael and Katelyn traveled to Alaska so that Katelyn could meet his sister! Lauren has been an incredibly supportive older sister to Michael. While the typical sibling rivalry existed while growing up, they have always been supportive of one another. As the two have grown older, they have become friends. Katelyn and Lauren bonded during their trip to Alaska over both being nurses, their love for the outdoors, the mountains, and hiking. Katelyn felt so welcomed during that trip, and she can't wait to go back. Katelyn is so excited to call Lauren her sister!
Nick
Best Man
Nick and Michael met back in high school when they both were in Drumline together. First on cymbal line and then playing bass drum. Their friendship continued to grow into college and beyond. They always had a good time running around Lee's Summit, having board game nights, or going to a Royals game. They have bonded over their love for Colorado and the mountains. Over the past several years they've gone on ski trips together and and braved some crazy drives through the mountains. Nick has always been there for Michael, whether it be helping him move or with projects around the house. Nick and his wife Taylor have been a great cheerleaders for Michael and Katelyn over the last year!
David
Groomsman
David and Michael met in college at Creighton University. David was Michael's chemistry lab partner freshman year and they would occasionally study together. They ended up living across the hall from each other sophomore year and would have several pre-pharmacy classes together. David and his roommates got Michael to join the APO service fraternity and he was Michael's big. Throughout pharmacy school they continued to hang out, joined the same pharmacy fraternity, and studied together. They have kept in touch over the years through Facetime calls and short visits during layovers in Seattle.
Ben
Groomsman
Ben and Michael grew up down the street from each other. They met when Michael's dad made him and his sister Lauren walk down to the end of the cul-de-sac and introduce themselves. They began playing outside with their siblings, and from there, their families grew close and shared many vacations to the Buffalo River in Arkansas as well as ski trips to Colorado. They share a love for the outdoors, and especially Arkansas. Today, Ben lives just a few blocks away from Michael in Fairway!
Cole
Groomsman
Cole has been a great friend to Michael since they met when he was in pharmacy school. Cole was a his classmate Madi's boyfriend (now husband) and they would hang out in the evenings/weekends watching sports, playing board games, or adventuring around Omaha. After pharmacy school, Cole and Madi moved to Arizona but still stayed in touch. In 2019 they moved to Kansas City and grew closer. They ended up just down the road from Michael's parents so lots of evening dinners and board game nights ensued. Michael has enjoyed getting to watch Cole and Madi's children (Callum and Mila) grow over the last few years and they are a ringer bearer and flower girl in our wedding.
Mitch
Groomsman
Mitch is Katelyn's younger brother. Mitch and Michael met in August 2024 when Katelyn brought Michael to the Lake of the Ozarks to meet her family. Mitchell was incredibly welcome to Michael, and the two had fun that weekend. During Christmas, they were able to go to a Blues Game together. Katelyn and Mitch may have argued a lot while growing up, but the two have always been close. As they've grown older, the two have become closer friends. Michael is excited to have another brother in law in the family, and to continue to get to know Mitchell in the years to come.
