These two met at Bethesda Waterpark in Lawrenceville, GA when they both started their first jobs as lifeguards at 16 and 17 years old. They were both so young and intimidated by each other that it took months for one of them to work up the courage to talk to another. One day, Savannah worked up the nerve to ask Mitch out on a date (yup-- it's true, Savannah asked Mitch first!!). February 10th, 2013 would always be a special day for these two. The sparks flew on their first date as the night lasted for hours in Zaxby's with these two talking about anything and everything. This night ended with Mitch inviting Savannah on another date.... a date to run a 10K with him (LOL AND for those who don't know this... Savannah doesn't like to run and has never done a 5K, let alone a 10K in her life). The night actually ended with Savannah's mom calling to see if she was still at work because it was so late. Whoops.... Sorry Momma Fonda. Ever since that moment, Mitch and Savannah would never be the same again. These two were inseparable throughout high school, and did most everything together. Unfortunately, they parted their ways during freshman/sophomore year in college when they both decided to go away to school in South Georgia. It was a tough time for both of them, but they each needed to find themselves during this time apart before they could make one another truly happy. Time went by and their paths crossed again through Gwinnett County. Both were placed at Lenora Waterpark as lifeguards again in Summer 2016, but this time, Mitch was Savannah's manager. Their relationship rekindled and nothing but love filled their hearts for one another and their relationship soared into a beautiful and inspirational story of two people that had to grow up and grow apart in order to find each other again. Savannah and Mitch have grown up together. They have fallen for each other more than once. This relationship proves that when something is worth it, you work for it!
April 1st, 2019: We wake up and talk about going to see this Gundum on a private Island in Toyko, Japan. As we are getting ready for the day, Mitch pulls out his Khakis and says, "We should dress up today since it's our last full day in Japan." Then there's me.. being very sassy this morning and saying, "No, we are going to be walking a lot, I'm wearing my leggings and long sleeve." (RED FLAG 1: Mitch never wants to dress up... I should of known something was up). As we were leaving the hotel, I told Mitch he should bring his jacket because it was cold out. He reluctantly said no and we headed for the elevator. Then, he randomly stops and tells me to hold the elevator while he gets his jacket because he changed his mind. (RED FLAG 2: He actually goes and gets something else other than the jacket). On the subway, I try to sit on Mitch's left side as I always do, and he gets up and tells me to sit on his right side. (RED FLAG 3: He had the ring in his left pocket and didn't want me to find it!!) At this point, I still had NO idea what he had planned. After 45 minutes on the train, we made it to Odaiba. It was more beautiful than I anticipated with all the cherry blossoms in bloom and all the colorful tulips everywhere. As I am taking pictures of the flowers, Mitch comes up behind me and asks if we can take a picture in front of the flowers, too. We give the phone to Matt and Melissa so they can get a picture of us next to the flowers. I liked the first photo, but Mitch gave the phone back and said. "I don't like that one, take another one." At this point, I laugh and say to him, "Wow, you're being such a girl wanting all these photos!" And then he turns to me and says, "Well, this moment needs to be perfect...." and GETS ON ONE KNEE AND ASKS IF ILL MARRY HIM. I start crying and laughing and everything in between. What a wonderful day this was. l remember every detail like it was yesterday. Of course I'll marry you, Mitch!
April 1st, 2019: So I had the ring tucked away in a sock ball hidden in a shoe. I was so worried that for some reason she would look in my shoes... The ring was in a decently sized box, so I had the fear that it would poke out and she would find it. Well, I wanted to go to a park so I could get some pink cherry blossom trees in the background and it would look good. We were about to leave to go out for the day, but I said I needed to go get my jacket after saying that I didn't want it. Savannah was annoyed by this, but I knew it would all make up for it in the end. We get on the train and head to one of the beautiful parks we had explored earlier. I had the ring in my jacket pocket and she kept trying to sit on the side it was on. I had to come up with something quick, so I just said I wanted to stand up. She looked like she was about done with me because I was acting weird, which was fine because I know I was being weird, but she had no idea. We decided to go to an island right off the harbor and we went to go see a giant Gundam instead. Once we get there, we see an giant field of multicolored tulips and I knew that this was the perfect place. I have never seen a more beautiful background to do one of the most important things I have ever done. We were walking around the field, taking pictures and admiring the views when we decided to take couples pictures. I was trying to play it off like we shouldn't waste such a beautiful view and Savannah just went with it, so at this point, I knew she was still clueless. We start taking pictures and I am just building up so much anxiety because I just couldn't decide how and when I wanted to ask the question. After saying that I didn't like the pictures 4 times, I decide to just do it. I got down on one knee and pulled out the ring. I felt like I was going to throw up as I'm looking at her and I asked her to marry me.
