During the summer of 2015, Robert and Miranda both attended UC's Freshman orientation. Of all the weekend options, they happened to pick the same one! As fall semester began, they were in the same Intro to University Honors class. That December, they both attended LeaderShape Institute for a week long honors retreat, and there their friendship began. They remained connected as both members of Greek life and avid Bearcats fans! Several years later, Miranda decided to take a leap outside her comfort zone and see if Robert would want to attend her sorority date party - just as friends of course :) After this, Robert finally realized she may be interested in him... and the rest is history!
On December 14, 2018, our relationship became official! We had shared many skyline dates, late night conversations, and study sessions together before we decided to date. On our first official day as boyfriend and girlfriend, Miranda was able to meet the Weidner family at an Oak Hills basketball game and their family knew this must be something special. After the basketball game, we shared one of our now favorite dates - attending the Festival of Lights at the Cincinnati Zoo and eating Dewey's Pizza! We continue this tradition every year.
On April 27, 2021, Robert proposed to Miranda in Mount Adams at a spot overlooking the city. Robert's busy season had just ended at work and he asked Miranda to go to dinner to celebrate. They walked around Mount Adams and eventually Robert pointed to Miranda to go check out the view behind a certain building and asked her to marry him. This day was exactly 2.5 years since Miranda had asked him to go to her date party, which was also in Mount Adams - very close to the spot he proposed. This day also marked the 75th anniversary of Robert's late grandparents. After the proposal, we enjoyed a dinner at Nicola's and spent the first few hours engaged with it being our secret. We spent the rest of the night after dinner calling friends and family to share the great news. This is still one of our our most treasured memories!
Our wedding will take place at The Monastery in Mount Adams, the same area where we first connected over a date party and the area where we said yes to spending forever together. The Monastery was very special to us, because it is an old catholic church which was restored and renovated into a wedding venue while still keeping intact the history and devotion to God. We are so excited to celebrate our big day with all of our loving friends and family on August 19, 2022!
