Roughly two years ago, Jessica was casually scrolling through Hinge (a dating app), and came across a profile of a man (now known as Adrian), who had in the TMI (too much information) section that he was planning on a full time sailing adventure. Jessica thought to herself “Huh, this could be an interesting date.” Little did they know, after bonding over mutual dietary restrictions on their first date, 3 dates later they’d be sail boat shopping, 4 months later spending Thanksgiving with Jessica’s entire family, or that their beautiful sailboat Leyna would officially become part of their lives by the end of that year. They DO say pandemic romances accelerated more quickly than regular old ones…Speaking of, fast forward about a year from their first date, and they moved in together and 4 months later abandoned land life to move onto Leyna full-time, diving headfirst in boat life! Looking back over two years of epic dance parties, tons of shenanigans with family and friends old and new, sailing up and down the east coast, getting almost struck by lightning in an INSANE flash thunderstorm, making it to the Bahamas and back, surviving multi-day overnight passages (without killing each other), almost crashing Leyna, multiple job changes, several moves hustling between land and boat, and being the most scared and the most energized we’ve ever been trying to figure out this intentionally unconventional life we have chosen…we decided we want to just keep doing it all together forever! All of you have been part of this journey with us in some form or another, from moral support, to partners in crime, to being part of Leyna’s crew, or in making us who we are today, and we are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with you!
