This is an old fashioned love story. You know, the kind that involves swiping right. Long story short...at the urging of a few insistent family members and friends, coupled with an undisclosed amount of adult beverages, both Ashley and Eric were hitting "download" on a certain dumpster fire of a dating app on their iOS and Android devices, respectively. Of course, both parties had sworn off dating all together, Eric suited to a life of bachelorhood, ham and cheese paninis and gunsmithing; Ashley well on her way to being the cool, nomadic, crazy dog lady. However, fate had it that these two awesome people were destined to meet, in the most modernly cliché way. With their phones being the very items that brought them together, Eric decided to drown his in a glass of water and go radio silent for 4 days. A few apologies, smartass comments and laughs later - the two were planning a first date at Brio Italian Grill. While dinner was lovely, the two agreed that it would be more fun to go shoot pool at a local dive bar to wrap up the evening - and the rest is history. Well, sort of. He probably thought she was crazy when he mentioned he was leaving in a week to go to pilot training in San Antonio, TX and she wasn't fazed. (crazy AWESOME!) So basically, they fit a month's worth of dating into one week, and the exhausted couple decided each one was worth it to continue long distance - especially after bonding over their love of Italian food, local restaurants, cheese, travel, family and everything else in between. Eric even met Tommy Shewey on his way to training, shirtless in a pool. Needless to say, after both men realized they owned the same cowboy boots, Ashley's family was a fan. After 10 months of long-distance, countless phone calls, weekend trips and a endless string of bad Michael McDonald songs, the couple finally ended up in the same city where they started. At 18 months while on vacation in the Bahamas, Eric got down on one knee and Ashley enthusiastically said yes before he could even get the entire question out of his mouth. Eric inherited both the girl and a shaggy dog named Elton, where they all live happily together in Las Vegas for the time being (or until the Air Force decides it's time for another adventure). Eric's time in France while both studying abroad and traveling with his best friend lends to the destination of their nuptials - that, and his love for everything WWII. Ashley is excited to finally use her passport towards a European destination, and is looking forward to marrying the love of her life in such a beautiful setting, amongst the land of cheese and wine. Plus...this location gives straight Cinderella/Beauty and the Beast vibes...this may be one of the most magical, gorgeous places to tie the knot ever. Both Ashley and Eric are thrilled to share their big day in a beautiful setting with all of their closest family and friends. They are so happy you're up for this adventure, it means the world. Au revoir, à bientôt en Normandie!
