I can remember that beautiful Friday night like it was yesterday. Kelsey Charest had invited me to happy hour at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts in Richmond, VA and wanted to bring one of her friends, Chelsea Souza. Chelsea and I instantly hit it off. We all chatted about our hometowns, crazy college stories and what brought each of us to Richmond. During that conversation, Chelsea stopped mid-sentence and said, "Oh my gosh, I should introduce you to my friend, Ian." My friends, the rest is history... Ian and I met the following Monday at Three Monkeys in Richmond and our first date ended up lasting six hours! We laughed, shared appetizers and asked a lot of very personal questions; it was simply the most perfect first date. Fast forward to Monday, June 11, 2018, I receive a text from my best friend & Maid of Honor, Rachel Schools, that she and her boyfriend are having troubles and we need to meet for dinner. Knowing Ian was still in Richmond, I asked if he could tag along. Rachel asked to go to dinner at a restaurant downtown Richmond that just so happens to be near the James River bridge that is my favorite view of the city. He suggested we arrive downtown a little early to walk the bridge together and take in the Richmond skyline. I happily agreed and we head off. Once we arrive, we start walking across the bridge and midway Ian stops and says, "this looks like a good spot." With tears beginning to fill my eyes, I see Ian getting down on one knee. To be completely honest, I don't even know if he asked me to marry him, but I grabbed him with a loud YES! From coordinating weekends and pushing through the long distance troubles, to spontaneous road trips to Knoxville, Asheville, Washington DC, Charlotte and Charleston, and finally living together in Charleston; this life has been an incredible blessing with you that I cherish everyday. Thank you to everyone for attending our special day and celebrating the Hudson's and Webster's becoming one family.
