Cara and David both swiped right on each other on the dating app Bumble. After some friendly conversation, a first date was set for November 21st!

David picked up Cara's favorite pastime: hiking. Cara picked up David's favorite pastime: biking. We have dated, hiked, and biked across parts of Washington, Oregon, and California in our first years together. We are looking forward to a lifetime of dogs, reading, traveling, adventuring, and outdoor activities together! Oh, and Sunday naps!

On December 14, 2019, Cara and David drove to Baldy Mountain in Yakima, WA. Unbeknownst to Cara, there was a ring in David's backpack. Unbeknownst to David, he had one hell of a hard hike ahead of him! After 2.5 miles, and 2000 feet of elevation gain (the last portion at a 40% incline!), the happy couple reached the top. Cara didn't initially think anything of seeing David on one knee, however after a very sweet proposal, a wedding ring was pulled out, a "YES!" was exclaimed, and a bottle of champagne and two flutes produced from their hiding spot in David's pack. It started to snow on the way down, making a magical day even more so.

We woke up and started our hike to the Mount Fremont Lookout in the dark; guided by headlamps. We made the ascent in regular hiking attire with our wedding-wear in our packs; good thing we have big overnight packs as Cara's dress had a lot of tulle! We made it to the top just as the sun made an incredible entrance and quickly changed our clothing. We think we clean up pretty well after an early morning hike! Cara hid her vows in her Mount Rainier day hike guide, and David stowed his in his suit pocket. We said "I do!" with Mount Tahoma/Rainier as our witness. After a Rainier beer cheers, we enjoyed the quiet, beautiful morning before beginning our descent. In true post-hike fashion, we had tacos + beer for our first dinner as a married couple.
