On one of Lauren's first days working for the 2016 RNC Convention in Cleveland, Michael brought her some push pins for her cubicle walls. She liked him right away. During their shared time in Cleveland, they worked with an excellent team to put on a great event, watched the Cavs win the NBA Championships, went to symphony and plays, Michael (of course) took Lauren skydiving, and they went out for tacos (lots, and lots of tacos). After working apart for some time following the Convention, Mike and Lauren got to work together again during the Presidential Inaugural Committee (following a very fun post-election vacation to Nicaragua) and at the White House. They found a cozy little apartment on Capitol Hill and have since shared many fun adventures from frigid Minnesota Gopher games to flying airplanes. On February 13, 2019, Mike deceived Lauren by letting her think he miraculously scored an after-hours Capitol Dome tour when in fact, he had been scheming with another Convention friend to arrange a proposal in the center of the Capitol Dome.
