Sam and Tyler’s story began in 2018 during their freshman year at Western Michigan University. A chance meeting at a Pi Kappa Phi rush event revealed a series of coincidences: they lived in the same dorm, shared a Psychology major, and grew up just 30 minutes apart. From shared meals at the dining hall to discovering a mutual love for the same music, they quickly became inseparable. After freshman year, life took them on different paths- Sam to dental assisting school in Sterling Heights and Tyler remaining in Kalamazoo. They spent the next two years conquering the challenges of long distance, navigating full-time jobs, and enduring the isolation of 2020. Nevertheless, between four-hour drives in the snow and the art of syncing up Netflix shows over FaceTime, they persisted. In 2021, they reunited in Kalamazoo, starting their first home with their cat, Mac Miller. After three apartments and countless memories, they moved back to the east side following Tyler’s graduation in 2024. The following Memorial Day weekend, Tyler proposed amidst the blooms of Dow Gardens: a moment as perfect as the life they’ve built together. Now, they are returning to the west side where it all began. Bringing the floral beauty of their proposal to the hidden gems of Sundance & The Secret Garden, Sam and Tyler can’t wait to celebrate their next chapter with you!
