We’re getting married!

Lauren and Grant met for the first time on August 31st, 2019, at North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Grant was with a group of his military friends near the beach access point on 77th Ave when Lauren, her mom, and her aunts walked out and sat down near them. With the help of Jimmy Cutler and a little liquid courage, Grant began his slow Baywatch run to Lauren and her family not knowing those were the first slow steps towards his future wife.

Grant proposed to Lauren on the evening of November 20th, 2021, near his home in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. After receiving her father’s blessing during a fishing trip on Badin Lake, North Carolina, Grant began the planning process with the help of Connie Granberg and Mike Hounsell. The proposal was disguised as an annual birthday shotgun party which allowed Grant to avoid raising suspicions while gathering friends and family and getting Lauren’s parents to fly down to Texas. By the time Grant pulled Lauren aside to go see “the deer feeder for the bow blind” the sunset was lighting up the clouds. Grant dropped to his knee with the assumption that Lauren knew it was coming but Lauren and her mother were still the only people at the party who were totally surprised!
