To us, marriage is far more than a celebration. It is a sacred covenant before God, a lifelong promise to love, honor, and serve one another, reflecting the steadfast love and faithfulness that He shows to His people. Ephesians 5 reminds us that marriage is designed to mirror Christ’s love. It calls husbands to love their wives with selfless devotion and wives to honor and support their husbands in unity and grace. Through this partnership, God teaches humility, patience, forgiveness, and compassion, shaping our hearts to love more deeply and faithfully. Our wedding is a reflection of that covenant and a celebration of God’s goodness in bringing us together. Every detail is meant to honor Him and testify to His faithfulness in our story. As we begin this new chapter, we humbly ask for your prayers and support. We pray that our marriage will glorify God, strengthen our faith, and shine as a reflection of His perfect love.
Their story began in 2022 at the one and only Texas Roadhouse. After moving 300 miles away to Lubbock, Emily came home to McKinney for winter break and picked up where she left off: working at Roadhouse, though now surrounded by many unfamiliar faces. One of those faces was James, who took on the responsibility (or the pleasure, depending on who you ask) of showing her the ropes of a different system. Little did they know that was only the beginning of how their worlds would collide. Over the next six months, Emily’s schedule was scattered as she traveled between Lubbock and McKinney, but as she worked with James, he quickly became one of her favorite people. Even when hundreds of miles apart, they kept in touch and built a friendship they both came to rely on. In August 2023, James worked his last shift at Roadhouse to begin a new chapter as an electrician. Emily thought that might be the last she’d hear from him, but instead, it became a turning point. Their friendship deepened, and James’ quick check-ins turned into daily calls on his 30-minute drive home from work. Then came 2024, when James made the trip to Lubbock to visit his sister (though Emily likes to think it was mainly for her). That weekend gave them the chance to spend intentional time together, and something shifted — what had been a steady friendship began to blossom into more. For the next month, James pursued Emily with persistence and patience, hoping for the chance to take her on a date. Finally, Emily chose to trust both God and James and said yes. That first date soon turned into a relationship, and after a year of long distance, they finally found themselves in the same city again. And now, here they are: best friends, partners, and soon-to-be husband and wife. They are beyond grateful to God for writing their story and cannot wait to celebrate all He has done with the people they love most!
