Wedding Party

Meet the Bridesmaids and Groomsmen who will celebrate with us--some in-person, and others virtually!

Rachel

Bride

Wayne

Groom

Breanne Watson

Matron of Honor

I am so excited to celebrate Rachel and Wayne as they marry! Rachel and I met the first day of college in 2004, as we both ran late into class and grabbed the last two seats next to each other in the front row. We quickly became great friends, and throughout college, we enjoyed many fun adventures—road trips throughout the west coast, times of worship, local ministry outreach, and dorm fun. Since college, we have often been separated by oceans, but our friendship has remained strong and close. Rachel is a remarkable person, and I appreciate so many things about her. She’s a good friend to many, is full of integrity, and has a heart after God’s own heart of love, mercy and justice. I’m so happy for her and Wayne as they embark on the incredible journey of marriage together!

Tim Ng

Best Man

I met Wayne many years ago when both of us were younger and wide-eyed at the world around us. I would have never thought that what started as a simple friendship would grow into what we have - “as iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.” I have witnessed Wayne’s journey from smoothie-drinking, karaoke-singing, photo-shopping to pursuing a deeper and more transformed life with Jesus. It is an incredible honor to be Wayne’s best man and by God’s grace we will continue to sharpen each other till the end. Joyce and I are excited to be part of this next stage of Wayne’s life - a lifelong journey with Rachel.

Krista Hastings

Bridesmaid

Rachel and I met each other when we were both first graders who had followed our parents to Asia. We grew up sharing camp and vacation time in a variety of countries - from swimming pools in Hong Kong to markets in Taiwan and beaches in Thailand to mountaintops in Malaysia - some of my best and most vivid memories of my upbringing have Rachel in them. Holiday brings spring butterflies, and I remember dreaming with Rachel about the boys (and as we grew older, the men!) we hoped to find some day. When my husband and I met Wayne, I thought, "Here he is." I am honored to be in the wedding I have been hearing about since we were eight!

Min Chong

Groomsman

I met Wayne in 2002 at our first university internship. We bonded over our shared love of cars and technology. I didn’t know at the time but fast forward 19 years, with 6 years living together, and our friendship is still going strong. Throughout the years, I have seen him eat way too much takeout and listened to him sing at way too many karaokes to finally having the privilege to witness him finding the love of his life. We shared a lot of great memories together. I have many Wayne stories queued up to share with Rachel which I’m sure will happen over time post-pandemic. It is an incredible honor to call Wayne a brother and to be a part of his life journey to the leader and man of God he is today. Stacey and I are excited to be a part of this next chapter of his life together with Rachel.

Stefani McDade

Bridesmaid

I am so excited to see my dear friend Rachel marry Wayne! Rachel and I met in a communications class back in college and we instantly connected as MKs and strong & independent women who loved Jesus, cared about people and enjoyed other cultures! We enjoyed many a chat at our favorite window booth in the corner at a little cafe in Redding, CA. Driven by our shared passions for social justice and theology we went to Scotland together last year to get our Masters degrees. Rachel is such a delightful human being with a beautiful soul and a bright future. I am SO excited to see her step into a brand new season of life with Wayne by her side! Sam and I think you're an adorable couple and we can't wait to champion you down the aisle and support you from afar for as long as you both shall live!

Kenaz Kwa

Groomsman

Wayne and Kenaz (“Waynaz”) met on a drizzly March day in 2011 – Kenaz having just arrived in Seattle from Texas, lacking both friends and warm pants. Wayne was 15 minutes late to their first hangout at Crossroads mall, long enough for Kenaz to buy sweatpants, meet Ann (Kenaz’s future wife), and worry that alas true friendship would be more elusive. Fortuitously, their shared love for wingtip brogues and later Jesus, Japanese nabe, and Lagavulin 16 would become a true brotherhood. And despite Wayne once abandoning Kenaz on the side of a snowy mountain with a broken leg, this friendship has “stood” the test of time, united across Portland and Seattle in mission to bring God’s kingdom to the Pacific Northwest.

Tori Goertch

Bridesmaid

I am thrilled to celebrate this occasion with Rachel & Wayne! For this man, we certainly have prayed. I have known Rachel since 2011 when we met at an InterVarsity outreach at Shasta College (Redding, CA). Drawn together by a desire to seek God, we developed a beautiful friendship! We've had many adventures together crossing oceans, at ministry retreats, and celebrating new chapters in each other's lives along the way. I really appreciate Rachel's zeal to pursue the things of the Lord above all else. She lives of life of integrity, drive, and joy! One thing about Rachel is she makes a point to be present with the people she meets. She always "shows up"... she might be late, but she always shows up. Love you, Rach!

Minh Vo

Groomsman

I met Wayne after I moved from Texas to Seattle in 2008. Through small group (I didn't even know what small group was at the time lol), snowboarding, Lin-sanity, Broadway, T-Mobile family plans, and accountability group we've supported each other thru the peaks & valleys of life! Wayne has been instrumental in my walk with God and I'm inspired by his deep love for Christ and how he lives out his faith! Wayne's hunger for scripture runs deep and through Wayne I learned what the word hermeneutics means :) I'm honored to call Wayne my brother in Christ and it's been pleasure witnessing Wayne grow into the spiritual leader he is today! I’m so happy for Wayne that he's found a life ministry partner in Rachel and I'm even more excited to see God’s goodness and faithfulness in their lives!

Kamalani Holokai

Bridesmaid

Rachel and I met July 2015 at Hoʻolohe Pono—InterVarsity Hawaiʻi’s summer immersion program into the Native Hawaiian community to listen, learn, and serve with the aloha (love) of Ke Akua (God). After that we became: sisters-in-Christ, coworkers, roommates, coach/coachee, and friends (and to this day we joke about these many labels). I love Rachel’s passion and heart to see God’s justice brought to all people, and especially for the ways she has walked humbly with and in Native communities to bring more honor to them and to God. Now WE are the ones who are so honored to be a part of her special day with this man, Wayne, that she TRULY has prayed and waited on the Lord for. We celebrate Rachel & Wayne and Mahalo Ke Akua (thank God) for bringing them together!

Isaiah Ng

Groomsman

Isaiah has known Wayne since 2011 through the church that they both love. They have served together in various capacities, and he can attest to Wayne’s diligence and earnestness as a leader and teacher. Above all, Isaiah bears witness to Wayne’s total transformation into someone who knows Jesus not only in his mind, but also in his spirit, his heart, and his hands. Isaiah dreams of using business to transform communities across the world where Jesus is not known. He and his wife Pam are proud parents to a delightful toddler and a newborn.
